A Xavier batter swings to launch the incoming softball in a game against Red Mountain. The game concluded with paying tribute to senior pitcher Riley Flynn for her 500th strikeout.

Batter up, because it’s softball! Both JV teams lost some of their games, but most were by a point or two. JV-B consists of freshman and sophomores while regular JV, or JV-A, includes a variety of grade levels. Both teams concluded their seasons against Hamilton High School on April 25.

For varsity softball, out of 23 games, the team has only lost five. Having impressive scores, the team is ranked 1st in the 6A Premier and 4th in state as of the week of April 25. The regular season is over, and State Round 1begins Saturday, April 30 at Xavier’s Petznick Field. Winning Xavier’s first softball state championship last year, the team has high hopes for the streak to continue.
