At Xavier College Preparatory excellence is not only in the classroom but also on the field, court and pool. Tessa Larkin ‘27, Alexis Lamadrid ‘27 and Adylen Burns ‘28 have risen above the rest to showcase their outstanding performances in their sports.
Larkin has been on the varsity volleyball team since her freshwoman year. She is an outside hitter who continues to put in the work now as a junior.
During her freshwoman season she was named Arizona 6A All-Conference Offensive Player of the Year. The following year, she was a USA U16 team finalist and a part of the USA U19 team.
Although she is already a very accomplished player, she is still working toward making the USA U21 team and winning state for Xavier.
Larkin is committed to play volleyball at the University of Minnesota, and the Gophers are ranked 14th in the nation.
Golfer Alexis Lamadrid is another outstanding athlete. She has been on the varsity golf team at Xavier since her freshwoman year and led Xavier to two state championships through her hard work and dedication to the sport.
In January, she won the Mexican Women’s Amateur Championship and earned an exemption to play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Golf Championship where she tied for 16th place.

Although she is still in high school, she has proven that she can compete at higher and more intense levels.
Lamadrid plans on furthering her golf career at the University of Texas at Austin.
“The accomplishment I am most proud of is committing to a D1 university. I have always dreamed of the moment I would be committed to a school my junior year,” Lamadrid said.
Only a sophomore, swimmer Adeyln Burns has already earned national recognition.
She was selected to the Junior National Select Camp hosted by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, which only invites a few high school swimmers.
“An accomplishment I’m proud of is that I was able to go to the Olympic training center last year and do a camp with them,” Burns said.
Burns is currently ranked second in the state of Arizona for swimming the 200 IM and 100 breast.

These young Xavier College Preparatory athletes have shown what it takes to go above and beyond in the athletic world. Their personal accomplishments are ones that exemplify why they are considered some of Xavier’s outstanding athletes.
