This year the Xavier community will enjoy two well-known, mainstage musical productions in the Performing Arts Center. Mrs. Robillard, Xavier’s theater director, is excited to celebrate the school’s 75th anniversary with two family-friendly musicals in the hopes that many students and parents will attend.

The first show of the season is Disney’s The Little Mermaid,” the story of a young girl who overcomes trials with great bravery. Mrs. Robillard said that this theme is “good for girls to hear” about, especially those facing troubles in their own lives. She also hopes that alumnae will bring their children to see this spectacular production.

In the spring, Xavier will take over Brophy’s prior role of performing another musical. The production will beInto the Woods.” Even though Mrs. Robillard said she thinks “it’s going to be a challenge for our actors both vocally and the story itself,” she chose this musical because it, likeThe Little Mermaid,” has a great message. “Into the Woods” is also one of her favorite musical productions. The show has an abundance of roles which will give many opportunities to Xavier and Brophy students who are looking to be part of the musical.

Mrs. Robillard shared that her goals for this 2017-2018 season are to get many students involved in the theater productions, to have fun, and to leave the audiences wanting to come back to experience more Xavier musicals.
