Outdoor fitness activities
With the fall season in full swing, the temperature in Arizona is slowly starting to cool down from the harsh 110 degrees of summer. Most people prefer to work out in the air-conditioned gyms during the summer heat, but, now that the fall cool is settling in, there are various other places and ways to exercise outside. Check out some outdoor fitness ideas below:
- Outdoor yoga: For those who already attend a yoga class in a studio, another great way to do yoga is outside in nature. From a backyard to the top of a hiking trail, yoga can be done anywhere. There are also various outdoor yoga classes around the valley that can be found on any studio’s or meet-up platform’s websites. Senior Claire Fleming commented about the activity, “I recently started doing yoga in the summer, so now that it’s nice and cool outside, I like to do it in the fresh air of my backyard instead of a stuffy studio.”
- Stand-up paddle-board: This activity doesn’t even feel like exercise due to how fun it is. Paddleboarding tones the entire body and can be done alone or with friends. Head to any nearby lake to paddle-board the day away.
- Hiking: Arizona contains many amazing hiking trails that are great for exercise and sightseeing. Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, and Papago Park are popular hiking spots in the valley.
- Dog-walking: This seems simple enough, but it is a relaxed exercise for both human and pup. Just a quick walk around the neighborhood is perfect after a busy day at school.
