Xavier students sign National Letters of Intent
Every year, talented Xavier student athletes participate in the National Letter of Intent Signing day. According to the official NCAA website, “By signing an NLI, the college-bound student-athlete agrees to attend the college or university for one academic year. In exchange, that college or university must provide athletics financial aid for one academic year.”
Each year Xavier hosts the National Letter of Intent signing in the fall and in the spring. There are different dates listed below for each sports. Xavier always has had a good amount of athletes that sign for all different sports. The National Letter of Intent is not something that is just held here at Xavier, it is held all around the nation for these sports.
This past signing on Wednesday Nov. 8, there were six athletes that signed for softball, sand volleyball, basketball and swim. Senior Montana Oltrogge, who is going to continue her basketball career at Idaho State University, said “It was an amazing feeling signing, knowing that all my hard work has finally payed off. I had all my family, friends, and teammates there and just having all the people there that have impacted my life and my basketball career was amazing.”
Oltrogge said, “I am excited to be able to take my talents to the next level and to be able to play at the Division 1 level, also starting with a new team, new coaches, and in a whole new environment.”
