Into the world of “Into the Woods”
The Xavier theatre program did a fantastic job this year with their hit fall production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” and now, they’re back with another Broadway musical! This time, talented actors, actresses, and crew members from Xavier and Brophy will put on “Into the Woods,” a comedy-drama about fairytale characters who aren’t quite careful for what they wish for. The musical is very famous; it has won the Tony award for Best Original Score and was even adapted into a live-action Disney film in 2014. The cast and crew of “Into the Woods” are thrilled to share such an entertaining and well-known musical with the rest of Xavier and Brophy.
Hannah Novack, a senior in the ensemble, is excited because “‘Into the Woods” is my last Xavier show” and she gets to “strengthen bonds” with her theatre friends. Actor Johnny Robaina says that that he enjoys the show’s “complex and challenging music, which will help him develop as a musical theatre actor.” Both Novack and Robaina like how “Into the Woods” is about fairytale characters who have to face the consequences of their actions. Since the musical is set in a fairytale kingdom and involves magic, many special effects are required. Claire Nelson works in the tech crew and loves that they are creating “lighting, twenty foot trees, and giants” for the production.
The cast and crew of “Into the Woods” are working very hard to throw an incredible production. Make sure that you won’t miss this amazing performance! For more information or to purchase tickets, go to the Performing Arts page on the Xavier website.
