What is four letters long, requires black-tie attire and is going to be an unbelievably good time for Xavier and Brophy upperclassmen two weeks from now? Prom!

Attention all Xavier and Brophy juniors and seniors, Prom is at 8 p.m., in Brophy’s Great Hall, on April 28, and we here at XPress have the most intriguing theories on the details of the dance. The dress code requires floor length gowns that are not backless, low cut or strapless and do not include nude impression material or any types of “cutouts.” For boys, any type of suit and tie or bow tie is appropriate. Overall, it will be a characteristically dapper evening. Sharing her theories on the fashion of the dance, junior Kyla Ferry says she thinks that “everyone is going to show up in either black or red and no one will really dress to the theme.” Junior Eve Loughran comments on the matter as well, predicting that “people are going to wear sneakers… heels are too uncomfortable!”

For more theories, commentary and opinions on the dance, check out the Prom 2018 Theories podcast by Emmegale East and Tatum Dial. And don’t forget to share your thoughts, theories and reactions! The podcast includes reflections on: What types of dresses will be “in” this year? Will girls be glamorous with their gowns or strive for a more simple elegance in their choices? Are people going with dates, bigger groups, or both? And most importantly, what will be the theme of the long-awaited dance?
