6 Gators Sign National Letters of Intent
Xavier College Preparatory is known for having outstanding student-athletes in every sport. Each year, at least a dozen Xavier athletes go on to play at the college level and this year is no different. Although many athletes have been verbally committed for months or even years, National Signing Day is one of the biggest days of the year for high school athletes because they get to officially commit to their future college. Back in Nov., nine gators signed National Letters of Intent to play collegiate sports. Now, this past week, six more of your gators signed!
First, Addie Putnam signed to play basketball at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Claudia Garcia signed to play lacrosse at Benedictine College in Kansas and plans to major in Biology. Caitlin Johnston signed to play soccer at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and will major in Psychology. Alyssa Largay signed to dive at the United States Naval Academy and will major in Political Science. Maddie Wickers signed to be part of the crew team at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where she plans to major in Neuroscience. Finally, Janelle Yarwood signed to play Volleyball at Tufts University in Massachusetts, where she will be majoring in Biology.
Johnston shared that, “signing day was an amazing experience. It was so heartwarming getting to see and feel the support of all my friends and family”.
Xavier is so proud of every athlete that has signed to play at the collegiate level. This event continues to show how much support the whole Xavier community shows to our athletic teams throughout the year. Good luck to our signees in college athletics and academics! Go Gators!
