PBS Student Reporting Lab Assignment- Citizen Science – Bald Eagle Population Growth in AZ

The Bald Eagle Nestwatch Program takes place all over Arizona. Raptor biologists work in pairs at certain bald eagle nesting sites to observe and record activity. We would interview one of the biologists involved in the program and would have the ability to attend a bald eagle banding. The biologists remove the bald eagles from the nest and put identification bands on them. They stay at the nests most of the bald eagle watching season and record a variety of information on the animals. In addition, they also educate the public and get people involved in the program.
