Hadestown

Sports editor Lucia Sugich's favorite Xavier production so far has been last year's spring musical, "Hadestown." The musical follows Orpheus and Eurydice as they navigate love and survival in a post-apocalyptic underworld ruled by Hades, blending myth and jazz in a haunting tale of hope and loss. Sugich said, "I loved the music and the actors. Everyone's embodiment of his or her character was perfect, transporting me into the story." She remembers feeling like she was watching a true Broadway show.

Clue

Arts and Entertainment editor Mia Steinmetz's favorite Xavier production so far has been this year's fall play, "Clue." The play follows a group of eccentric dinner guests who, after a sudden murder, scramble through a mansion full of secrets and suspicion to uncover the killer before it’s too late. Steinmetz said, "The set was amazing, how creative and multifunctional it was. The costumes were also very intricate and professional-looking."

Alice in Wonderland

Staff writer Genevieve Cenac's favorite Xavier production so far has been last year's fall play, "Alice in Wonderland." The play follows Alice as she tumbles down a rabbit hole into a whimsical world where logic bends, time misbehaves and curiosity leads her through a series of absurd and enchanting encounters. Cenac remembers how "it was so unique and had elements of humor, fairytale and was just overall an amazing display of talent."

Murder on the Orient Express

Staff writer Chloe Cundiff's favorite Xavier production so far has been the 2023 fall play, "Murder on the Orient Express." The play follows detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates a baffling murder aboard the luxurious Orient Express, where every passenger harbors a secret and anyone could be the killer. Cundiff remembers loving the suspense of the plot. "I remember feeling like I was inside of the story, and the actors were all so impressive," Cundiff said.

Matilda

Staff writer Bri Blair's favorite Xavier production so far has been the 2023 spring musical, "Matilda." The musical follows Matilda, a brilliant and mischievous young girl who uses her sharp mind and a touch of magic to stand up to cruel adults and change her own story. Blair said, "The lead actress was incredible. I have never seen anyone embody a character quite like that." She also has always had a soft spot for the upbeat soundtrack of the musical.
