Woot, woot! Reboots are a hoot!

There have been many recent reboots of world-renowned Hollywood favorites in the last decade or so. However only some live up to the expectations of their past productions. Here is a list of recent, successful reboots!

Movies:

A Star is Born:

The 2018 movie reboot, “A Star is Born,” is the third remake of the classic 1937 film. Starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, the movie is an incredible movie that discusses important issues, such as suicide and what fame can do to a person. 

Not only is the dialogue and message of the movie inspiring, but the movie soundtrack is beautiful. The audience can feel the characters’ emotions through their music. 

Overall, this movie is an excellent remake of the classic film. Many movie-critic sites, such as Rotten Tomatoes and Common Sense Media, have given this film a 5/5!

Cinderella:

The 2015 “Cinderella” reboot of the 1950 cartoon, is a live-action remake of the classic Disney movie. 

This movie is rated 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. The nostalgia that comes with this movie is unparalleled, as all the jokes, characters, scenes and more come back to your screen.

The Cinderella in this movie, Lily James, does an outstanding job of portraying her character, as it feels as if she stepped into the shoes of the lead.

Overall, the fantastic acting and feelings of nostalgia bring this movie to a rating of 10/10 on various sites.

No Way Home (Spiderman Reboot):

 “No Way Home” (2021), starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, is the third movie in a trilogy reboot of the original Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield “Spiderman” movies in 2002 and 2012, respectively. 

This movie was terrific. Many plot twists kept viewers interested in every second of the film. One particular review on Google stated, “I cannot express how much I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was a cinematic masterpiece that gave so much nostalgia. The inner child in me came out and I really felt like such a giddy kid at Disney world.” 

The actors did a fantastic job of playing the characters, especially Tom Holland and Zendaya, through their

portrayal of Peter Parker and MJ. 

Like all other “Spiderman” movies, this film had many in tears by the end. Rotten Tomatoes gave this film a 92% rating!

Aladdin:

Starring Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott, the movie “Aladdin” (2019), a reboot of the 1992 original Disney movie, is a beautiful movie with talented actors and fabulous music.  

Of course, it would not be an actual Disney movie without the hidden message. This movie talks about societal issues regarding the truths of human nature, the rights of women and the complex aspects of human relationships.

Not only is the movie itself interesting, but the actress playing Jasmine, Naomi Scott, puts on an outstanding performance. She truly embodied the confident character of a Disney princess, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats, wondering what she was going to do next. 

The music was also exceptional, as the singing voices of both Massoud and Scott are lovely. 

Overall, reviewers on Google gave this film a combined score of 4.4/5!

Beauty and the Beast:

The 2017 remake of the 1991 movie “Beauty and the Beast” did not fail to bring back memories of watching the original cartoon film with one’s family around the fireplace. 

The soundtrack for the film, composed of beautiful orchestral pieces, was absolutely breathtaking. Additionally, the actors played the characters so well that you could feel the love and tension through the screen. Emma Watson, the actress who played Belle, was especially astounding, as she was a significant factor in setting the light-hearted yet exciting tone for the whole movie.

Lastly, words can’t describe how magnificent the setting was for this movie. Even though the movie was filmed entirely on a set, the artistic backdrops made it feel as if they were indeed in France, the original setting for “Beauty and the Beast.”

Overall, many people enjoyed this film, as people on Google said, “‘Beauty and the Beast’ is a beautiful beast of a movie. This highly anticipated live action recreation of a much loved Disney classic did not disappoint.” 

Google gave this film a 3.5/5, while Rotten Tomatoes gave this film an 86%!

TV:

Saved By The Bell:

The 2020 reboot of the original 1989 sitcom, “Saved By The Bell,” is an excellent, feel-good show that brings back all the good moments and characters from the original. 

One thing people especially loved about the reboot that they did not find when watching the original was that the characters in this remake were allowed to grow and change, which they did not do in the original.

Overall, the characters are unforgettable and nostalgic, and the show is just how everyone remembers it. This spectacular reboot is absolutely incredible, and rating sites, such as Rotten Tomatoes, gave the show a 76%!

iCarly:

The 2021 reboot of the original 2007 Nickelodeon series, “iCarly,” did not fail to amaze everyone’s expectations. With most of the original characters, like Carly and Freddie, coming back to the screen, the nostalgia from watching this show in the early 2010s undoubtedly appears. 

The show not only brings back memories from the original but also adds a fresh twist to it, adding 2021 ideas, such as “canceling” Spencer when he says something rude about Carly’s show. 

Overall, the happiness and excitement from watching this show when everyone was younger all came back in force.

Many people have reviewed this reboot on Google, and gave it a rating of 4.1/5 overall!

Fuller House:

“Fuller House” is a 2016 revival of the original 1987 television show “Full House.” It shows the lives of all the Tanner daughters: DJ, Stephanie and Michelle. Mostly discussing the lives of DJ and Stephanie, the show follows the girls as they start their journey of living together. 

As avid watchers of “Full House,” people enjoyed learning about the girls’ future lives that all started with the original. Additionally, everyone was particularly excited to see characters from the past show, such as Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey. 

Overall, this show got a rating of 4.6/5 on Google, as many loved this reboot and would recommend it to others!

Gilmore Girls:

The “Gilmore Girls” 2016 reboot is a continuation of the 2000 television series. With Lorelai and Rory coming back, we were able to see their lives continuing after the show ended. 

We can see how successful Rory becomes, and we see her reunions with her past boyfriends. We also get to see who she finally ends up with, relationship-wise. 

This light-hearted and fun show returned to the screen, and people went crazy over it!

This reboot was given an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4/5 on CommonSense Media.
