Xavier has recently welcomed Lithany DeVontenno, athletic trainer. This marks an exciting new chapter for the school’s athletic programs, promising enhanced care and support for student athletes.
DeVontenno brings experience and fresh perspective to Xavier. Her background in sports medicine and athletic training is extensive, making her a valuable addition to the school’s team.
“I hope to bring wellness to each athlete,” DeVontenno said.
In her decade-long career DeVontenno has worked with several sports teams to hone her skills in injury prevention, rehabilitation and overall athlete wellness.
She believes in not only addressing injuries, but also in promoting overall physical and mental health. Her approach involves personalizing injury prevention programs, providing one-on-one support for recovery and fostering a supportive environment to encourage open communication between athletes and trainers.
Laurie White, head athletic trainer, said, “It’s always nice having another person to help out, especially since it’s been just the two of us.”
DeVontenno is set to enhance Xavier’s athletic programs. Her expertise will be instrumental in implementing advanced training techniques.
“I hope to thoroughly work on each athlete who comes with an injury and nurse them back to health,” said DeVontenno.
She plans to work closely with coaches and athletes to oversee that each individual’s needs are met, optimizing performance and minimizing injury risk.
DeVontenno is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the school’s existing health and wellness staff. She aims to integrate athletic training with the school’s health initiatives, making sure that students receive care that supports their academic and athletic pursuits.
She will be joining a team of skilled professionals who have already made contributions to Xavier’s athletic programs. Hannah Duszynski, M.S., ATC, AT, and Laurie White, M.S., ATC, AT, are members of the current athletic training staff.
Duszynski’s role involves providing support for injury assessment, treatment and prevention. Her experience will allow DeVontenno to learn how the athletic training staff at Xavier cares for athletes.
White combines her expertise in athletic training with her role as a physical education teacher. Her position allows her to integrate physical education principles with athletic training, providing an interesting approach to student wellness.
White also teaches courses, SPT 271 and WED 154, in physical education and sports training at Rio Salado College.
DeVontenno’s arrival at Xavier, alongside the contributions of Duszynski and White, represents an advancement in the school’s commitment to athlete care and excellence.
