To keep the standard of excellence set by the athletic department, Xavier has introduced new coaches to multiple teams, including swim and dive.
Isabella Meyers is the new assistant coach for diving. “Isabella Meyers has done a lot of great things in diving,” Xavier athletics director and vice principal of activities Sister Lynn Winsor ‘61 said.
Meyers is a former diver for Corona Del Sol, and she is a fierce competitor. She will be assisting the Gators in upcoming invitationals and the state championship in November.
When selecting a new coach for Xavier sports, characteristics such as experience, connection toward others and skill sets all go into consideration. After usually long processes, applicants who are believed to have the best contributions to a team are chosen.
Varsity diver Ellie Desmond ‘26 expressed, “Last year, being on the team was a great experience, but I’m glad we have a new coach to perfect our dives.”
While Isabella Meyers is the new assistant coach, the head dive coach Kacee Hoffer, head swim coach Glen Coy and assistant swim and dive coach David Smithers all are guiding the athletes toward success.
With an additional coach, Windsor emphasized, “This is a great opportunity for the girls and I’m thrilled we have more help for this team.”
With top performances, Gator swim and dive is currently undefeated and has one of the best programs in the state.
