Xavier College Preparatory’s Mothers’ Guild hosted its annual dinner and auction on November 9, 2024. This auction was dedicated to the Xavier Scholarship Fund designated to help Xavier students get more financial aid.
The Xavier fund helps support those in need of financial assistance. To contribute to the Xavier fund, parents can direct their Arizona tax credits toward Xavier and then help Xavier students in need.
Over 45% of the Xavier student body qualifies for scholarships and it is an important statistic for Catholic education.
The president of the Mothers’ Guild executive board, Julie Duncan, stated, “First and foremost, tuition assistance is necessary to any girl who qualifies. It is need-based and sometimes covers extra things that are not thought of such as club or sports fees and books. It’s such a worthy cause and so many amazing Xavier girls benefit from it.”
“It is events like the auction and the senior fashion show that assure any young woman wanting to attend Xavier may do so regardless of funds,” added Duncan. Duncan’s daughter is a part of the class of 2026.
The Mothers’ Guild “Parisian Picnic” was a night to remember. The holiday-themed event was fun-filled with music, a dance floor and DJ. There were also featured auction tables, food and vendors.
This adults-only event was filled with socializing and supporting the Xavier fund, as well as making memories. Volunteers assisted and worked tirelessly to make this event a successful night.
The auction featured a special item which was a mini goldendoodle named Remi. The puppy was a favorite and desired by many attendees.
One Mothers’ Guild mom exclaimed, “My favorite moment this year is when Remy the puppy took center stage during the auction and posed in the middle of the dance floor, all on his own. It was like he knew he was the star of the show!”
Some special featured items auctioned were a free trip with Xavier on an overseas immersion trip, a tennis necklace valued at $9,000 and $15,000 toward Xavier tuition.
Stacy Seger, Xavier French teacher stated, “This is a great opportunity for students to take advantage of and truly immerse themselves into different cultures,” in regards to the immersion trip. Seger has been on numerous trips, including the most recent Xavier France summer trip in July of 2023.
