Homecoming is hosted annually at Brophy and has been around since the beginning of Xavier. After a decision by Brophy Mothers’ Guild, this year’s homecoming theme was Snowcoming, held on October 4, 2025.
Students built excitement by celebrating Spirit Week through dress-out days, food trucks, music at the bell tower, a dodgeball game, hand painting, lip sync battles, treat trots and obstacle races.
This year, Brophy decided not to hold a traditional homecoming court. Co-homecoming committee moderator Peggy Sue Clay said of homecoming, “This is the first time in history that we won’t be having a homecoming court.”
Brophy decided to take a more inclusive approach to homecoming to unite the lower and upperclassmen, and Xavier soon followed the approach.
While Brophy typically decides the themes of homecoming, Xavier takes part in plans for Spirit Week activities and the events leading up to homecoming. Spirit week and homecoming committees meet during September to plan daily themes, lunch activities and do’s and don’ts.
This year’s homecoming committee consisted of advisers Clay and Wendy Mostoller, homecoming committee co-chairs Faith Gwati ‘26 and Reagan Storey ‘26, Spirit Week committee members Savannah Simon ‘26, Rute Alemu ‘26, Mariah Pineda ‘26, Shadnia Gardner ‘26, and Shya Pethtel ’26 and publicity committee members Gigi Bulkley ‘26 and Kiana Weiland ’26.
Homecoming committee co-chairs help design the homecoming shirt, help plan and run Spirit Week activities and guide and organize homecoming student representatives.
Spirit Week committee members are in charge of brainstorming dress-out days, running homecoming activities and showing spirit. “I chose to apply for the Spirit Week committee because it’s my senior year and I wanted to make sure students had a positive experience,” said Simon.
The homecoming publicity committee promotes Spirit Week and homecoming so that the student body gets informed and involved with the week of activities.
The Friday before the annual dance, the homecoming Brophy football game was held at Central High School with Brophy winning against Shadow Ridge with a score of 43-7.
The student body showed school spirit with a tailgate at Brophy then continued a united walk over from Brophy to Central to join the student section.
“I was excited to see how Brophy was going to set up the Snowcoming theme,” Simon said. At homecoming there were decorations such as snow bubbles, an inflatable snow globe, food trucks, drink stations, poker and even a roller skating rink.
“I hope students gain a sense of showing school spirit during our Spirit Week activities, forming memories with friends and classmates”, co-homecoming committee moderator Wendy Mostoller said. This year, Xavier and Brophy students celebrated a successful homecoming game win and dance.
