A new Apple iOS update has been launched. This update is known as the iOS 11. Apple claims that the update makes the iPhone better than ever before and the iPad more capable than ever. The new update opens up these devices to amazing possibilities for increased reality in apps and games. However, is this really true?

The iPad has never failed to be a favorite among many people, both young and old. It provides great, yet addictive access to games and creative apps. The new features of iOS 11 help iPad users accomplish things more efficiently. For instance, the new Files app joins all of the files together. Apple states on their website that “You can easily browse, search, and organize all your files in one place.” There is also a special place for recent files.

Yet another capability of the update is the new Dock. With just one swipe from any screen, one can open and switch apps immediately. Apps that are currently open or recently opened on an iPhone or Mac appear on the right side of the Dock.

iOS 11 installed a new Document Scanner in the Notes app. Apple explained the new Document Scanner, saying, “it automatically senses and scans a document, crops the edges, and removes any tilt or glare.” Users only have to fill in the blank spaces or sign the document with Apple Pencil, then simply save or share.

Another element Apple implemented is the introduction of Apple Pay to iMessages. One can request, send and receive money all within the convenience of iMessage. This can be done easily and securely with the use of a credit or debit card.

Siri is also more helpful and expressive in the new iOS update. She has been programmed with a more natural voice and can translate a phrase in English to any other language one desires. For example, ask Siri in English, “Where can I find the nearest bathroom?” and she will translate that phrase to Italian, Spanish, French, Mandarin, etc. This is super effective when traveling abroad or just wanting to practice a different language. Some other tasks that Siri can execute are learning how to pronounce a name correctly, corresponding with daily reminders and following a variety of vocal commands, such as FaceTiming a sister who is away at college.

With all these handy and innovative features of iOS 11, there are unfortunately a few downfalls, as well. Specifically, iOS 11.0.3 has caused users to encounter poor performance and heavily decayed battery life. The Apple support Twitter account has been repeatedly bombarded with these complaints. Problems aside, the new Apple iOS update is sure to excite many Apple product users.
