Athletics and sports play a huge role in the lives of Xavier College Prep students. Athletes put in hours of work every day to prepare themselves for their games, matches, and tournaments, and as the season comes to an end, each sport has a night dedicated to the seniors on their team. On Oct 4, five seniors on the badminton team were acknowledged for their excellence on the court and in the classroom.

Senior night is an important night to the families of the seniors, to the team, and specifically to the seniors. For the families, it is an exciting night where their daughters are honored for their talents and celebrated for their role on the team. It is very emotional for the seniors and their teammates because it means their time together is coming to a close. The team has established strong friendships with one another, and this night was full of laughs, smiles, and tears.

Seniors Maddie Dines, Taylor Dines, Meg Fyan, Maeve Lee, and Jane Tiffany were recognized on this night. Their teammates are sad to see them graduate, but happy they got to play with them this year. The young Gators on the badminton team look up to these seniors and will miss them greatly next season!

Senior, Maddie Dines declares “Over the past four years, the team has grown into a family and through all the drills we stand strong together.”

Senior, Taylor Dines says “Being on a team for four years, we have become a close family. I’m sad that this is my last year. I am going to miss the connections I made and the feeling I get when all the hard work pays off!”

Senior, Meg Fyan reveals “Badminton has been like a family to me. I am excited for the rest of the season, but sad that it is my last.”

Senior, Maeve Lee states “Being on the team for four years, I have grown as a person and a player. I have enjoyed every moment with my teammates and I’m sad it is over.”

Senior, Jane Tiffany says “Badminton has been a great experience for me. It has allowed me to meet new people and form friendships that will last forever.”
