Get ready for Catholic Schools Week!
In the upcoming week here at Xavier, we have a lot of fun things to be excited for! Next week begins National Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 28 to Feb. 1. NCSW is the annual celebration of Catholic education in schools all across the country. Senior Emily Good, who takes the role of Stewardship on the Executive Board, stated, “Catholic Schools Week is an important time where we are given the opportunity to reflect on our faith-filled education and how it has influenced our outlook on the world. Celebrating our rich heritage and tradition allows students to feel a sense of community within the faith.” This week is a time for unity among the students, and each day focuses on appreciation, gratitude and recognition.
All throughout the week each grade will battle against one another in a game called “Penny Wars.” During this game, each grade competes as their own team against the other grades. All pennies that are collected add to the total for your team and all silver coins collected can be used against the other grades to bring their total down. This game raises money for the diocese and also provides a fun environment for competition between the grades. Senior Zaina Padda said, “This week allows us to appreciate our community while including the students here in fun activities on campus.”
Each day this week you may wear free sweans along with your themed attire!
- Monday – Western Wear Day! On this day, you may wear all kinds of denim!
- Tuesday – Tacky Tourist Day! Break out your fanny packs, cameras, floral print shirts, and cargo pants for this day. Remember the tackier the better!
- Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday! Wear any crazy clothes and accessories!
- Thursday – Brophy Day! You may wear brophy t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, etc.
- Friday – Decades Day! Dress up to any decade of your choice! Be trendy and have fun!
This next week is the perfect time for all of us to come together, have fun with one another and acknowledge how truly blessed we are to be students at Xavier.
