According to the Anthem Community Council (ACC), Autumnfest is a host of fall-themed activities for people of all ages. The festivities will occur the weekend of Oct. 24-35 at ACC Community Park in Anthem, and admission is free.
With such a broad range of activities, the festival has something to offer for both kids and adults. Fall classics like an apple pie-baking contest and a pumpkin patch give the event a timeless and warm feel, while live entertainment and craft vendors offer a modern touch.
The apple pie-baking contest is hosted by Arizona Hills Community Church and awards amateur bakers 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in addition to a People’s Choice award. The contest consists of two categories: single crust and double crust. It is scheduled for Saturday morning.
At the pumpkin patch, visitors can select a pumpkin for a fee of $5 and either stay to decorate it or take it home to carve.
In terms of entertainment, Autumfest promises ample options. There will be live music, a magician and balloon artists, as well as the traditional hay and train rides. A photo booth provides a tangible memory of the weekend’s experiences.
For those looking to shop or simply admire local handiwork, the arts and crafts vendors offer a wide variety of merchandise. Handmade furniture, jewelry and baked goods are among the items that will be sold and displayed.
Rounding off the list of attractions is the carnival, which will take place from Thurs. Oct. 22 to Sun. Oct. 25. Bracelets for unlimited rides can be purchased for $18 on all days except Friday.
Junior Kristin Jacobsen said, “I can’t wait to go to Autumnfest this year. I love fall activities and can’t wait to participate in them to kickoff the fall season.”
