How to: get through the month of September

We all know the month of September is essentially the “Mean Girls 2” of the calendar, necessary to endure but overall a bad experience. In comparison to this dreadful month, August holds that faint glimmer of summer and excitement for the new school year, while October tempts us with the promise of cooler weather, homecoming and Halloween. However, once again we find ourselves in September. Green Day’s prophetic words “wake me up when September ends” could not hold more truth in our current situation. If like Green Day you wish to disappear within the depths of your bed and crawl out only when October rolls around, this is the post for you! To make September fun and exciting is perhaps my most fearsome task yet, but I am up for the challenge.

Step 1: Plan something fun every week. This could be a weekly movie, coffee date or trip to your local Costco. Just give yourself something to look forward to each week.

Step 2: Take Green Day’s words to heart and catch up on your sleep. I’m positive your sleeping schedule was not healthy during the summer months, and most likely will suffer under the stress of October’s loaded schedule, so get some shut eye!

Step 3: Pass the dismal September days by preparing for the October ones. Stock up on your fall/winter clothes (even though you won’t really need them until November), pick out your homecoming dress and plan your Halloween costume. You’ll thank yourself later.

Step 4: Try something new to add some spice to the monotonous purgatory we call the month of September. It could be heated sculpt yoga (more on that later), painting or even knitting. The possibilities are endless! This new activity will make this dark period pass by in the blink of an eye.

There you have it, folks! A few ways in which to lessen the terrible burden known as September. If I have offended any of you, as somehow September is your favorite month, I deeply apologize but I cannot pretend to ever understand you.
