Countdown to Halloween: 13 days!

As the Valley gears up for another warmer than average season, Fall can still be found at five of the Valley’s Fall-themed attractions. Throughout the month of October, attractions like 13th floor, Fear Farm, Mother Nature Farms, Macdonald’s Ranch, and Schnepf Farms will be hosting Fall-themed events, such as haunted houses, hayrides, and pumpkin patches.

13th Floor, located at 2814 W. Bell Rd. in Phoenix, offers two attractions: the Possession and In the Shadows. The Possession is an escape themed haunted house and includes a terrifying nun named Mara. In the Shadows is a similar attraction, but instead of nuns, it focuses on zombies and a post-apocalyptic world. 13th Floor’s tickets start at $28, and it opens at 7 pm most nights. Additionally, this terror-filled haunted house has been featured on both MTV and The Travel Channel.

Fear Farm is also located in Phoenix, at 2209 N. 99th Avenue. While it has not been as nationally recognized for its haunted houses, it has earned praise for its attractions from ABC 15 and AZ Central. Two main attractions offered at Fear Farm are the Haunted Hayride and Fallout. Haunted Hayride is a spooky-themed hayride through a ghost town. While Fallout is an attraction similar to 13th Floor’s In the Shadow’s attraction, as it also focuses on horror in a post-apocalyptic world. Fear Farm’s ticket prices and times also match 13th Floor’s, as it starts at $28 and opens at 7 pm most nights.

Taking a break from horror is Mother Nature Farms, located at 1663 E Baseline Rd in Gilbert. Prices for Mother Nature Farms are $10 for children and $5 for adults. Included in the children’s ticket is a pumpkin, hayride, stickers, maze, etc. The farm is open seven days a week, from 9 am to 9 pm. Adding to the home feel, Mother Nature Farms remains family owned and operated.

Another Valley pumpkin patch is Macdonald’s Ranch located at 26540 N Scottsdale Rd in Scottsdale. Macdonald’s is open six days a week, it’s closed on Tuesdays, from 9 am to 5 pm. Pricing for this patch is $10 per ticket. At the ranch, activities include hayrides, a maze, a petting zoo, and a gold mine. The ranch also offers its own pumpkin patch, where all pumpkins are grown on site.

A final Fall themed attraction in the Valley is Schnepf Farms, located at 4610 E Rittenhouse Rd. in Queen Creek. Schnepf farms is open from Thursday to Saturday, 10 am to 9 pm. Every Thursday in October they host a pumpkin and chili party, where you can enjoy chili dishes and the pumpkin patch at the same time. Some activities at the farm include pig races, a pumpkin launch, and cornhole. Admission prices start at $20 per person.

These different themed attractions have been in the Valley for many years, drawing audiences from far and wide. These Fall activities allow students to indulge in the season of Fall and enjoy a short lapse from the Phoenix heat. Additionally, these varying attractions offer Valley residents a fun option for enjoying the nice weather and celebrating the Fall season.
