The March 2 Traditions Day assembly was the product of a collaborative effort between the President’s Council, a student leadership body made up of club leaders, Carol Hodus, Polly Fitz-Gerald, Preston Doyle and many others.

The assembly culminated the many activities throughout the week including a cake walk, talent show and a jelly bean contest. According to Edward Winkler, co-moderator of President’s Council and one of Xavier’s student counselors, these events help “raise scholarship funds and provide friendly competition.”

“The purpose of Traditions Day is to give students a look into Xavier’s rich traditions,” Winkler explained at this year’s celebration of the twentieth annual Traditions Day.

“[This is a] time to celebrate the alumni and their contributions to the school,” Winkler said.

Before the guest speakers presented, two alumnae faculty were commended for their dedication to serving the Xavier community: freshman World History teacher Stephanie Brugger and student counselor Christine Weglarz, who has worked at Xavier for approximately 50 years.
