Jolly Jenna is the new Connect Editor for the XPress for the 2021-2022 school year. Jenna is a junior at Xavier College Preparatory and participates in various clubs such as Xavier Tennis, Publicity Club, Music Club, Student Ambassadors, and Key Club. Aside from her school activities, she also likes to travel and volunteer. Jenna hopes to write informative and interesting articles while becoming a better writer and improving XPress for future staff and editors.

Many Xavier students, particularly freshmen, walk to Uptown Plaza on Camelback Road and Central Avenue to get food, shop and enjoy the company of their friends. While some students relaxed at Uptown Plaza during the middle of the week, most have gone on Fridays after early release from school.

In the streets of Telluride, Colorado, Xavier alumna Stanya Pawlowski Gorraiz ‘91 surprises her daughter Pippa for her 15th birthday with the same 1979 convertible Volkswagen Beetle that Stanya herself drove in high school. The vintage restored car has had several owners in various states before being reunited with its original owner, thanks to Stanya’s Xavier class ring being found underneath one of the seats after almost thirty years.

The Women of Courage Wall, located in the downstairs Virginia Piper Center, consists of 11 exceptional women with personally signed letters and portraits. The wall has been up since the Virginia Piper Center was built in 1994 and has progressed since then to exemplify women of excellence for Xavier students.

The Fall Showcase will feature a group number with the entire cast, which is being filmed individually throughout different rooms in Xavier’s Performing Arts Center in order to adhere to social distancing and CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines. Molly La Joie, choreographer, and Charles Judd, a freshman at Brophy, were rehearsing and filming, with the help of the video club, after school.
