Young alumnae show

Xavier alums bring their talent back to campus in this new exhibition created by Ms. Dunn

Get to know past Xavier students who have come back to share their artistic talents since graduating from Xavier. Art teacher Ms. Dunn created the new Stark Gallery show this year a way to honor Xavier alum who have continued to explore art in their lives.

Paige Poppe graduated from XCP in 2010, and then graduated from the architecture program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2015. The Xavier art program encouraged her to be prolific and create a variety of pieces to explore artistic interests, and she is currently working as a full time artist. Social media has been a big part of her success: she uses Instagram and YouTube for promotion to encourage sales.

Lexi Simpson is a 2012 XCP graduate who graduated from ASU Herberger in 2016 with a Batchelor of Fine Arts degree in painting. Ms. Dunn’s art class was the first real art she class she ever took: it “made [her] realize that art was a possibility and not just something you do in your free time”. Her future goals are to go back to school to pursue a degree in animation.

Christina Valenzuela graduated XCP in 2014, and is currently attending Indiana University Bloomington with a marketing major and minors in studio art and apparel merchandising. Her favorite artistic medium is oil paint, and her future goals are to synthesize a passion for fashion, art and business after graduation.

Hayley Davis graduated XCP in 2013. She is currently pursuing a double major in psychology and art at Bellarmine University. She plans to use art therapy with future psychology patients, and says that she “needs to create art in order to stay sane”. On her plans for the future, Hayley said “The opportunity to create art can always be a part of [my] future”.

Ivy Guild graduated XCP in 2012. She then graduated from University of San Diego Summa Cum Laude with honors and with a double major in art history and visual arts and a minor in communication studies. She now works in sculpture, photography, bookmaking, and printmaking. Ivy values the incorporation of technology into her art. She is currently working as a Teaching Artist at the New Children’s Museum in San Diego , and is applying for a Master of Fine Arts program in the fall of 2017.
