How to stick to your New Year’s fitness resolutions

Here are a few simple tips on how to keep your fitness resolutions this new year.

When the new year arrives, we all make resolutions to become a better person, most are health and fitness related. However, after a month or two, we abandon these plans and revert back to our previous habits. Here are a few tips on how to keep your fitness new year’s resolution.

  1. Grab a friend. If you make plans with someone to go running or to the gym, then you’ll be less likely to not go the next day (despite how little you may want to), since you won’t want to be a flake. Additionally, having someone to talk to or exercise with makes the whole grueling experience more fun. After, you can reward yourselves with a much needed Jamba Juice.
  2. Skip the gym. If you get bored running on the treadmill or staring at a wall while doing your crunches, then opt instead to run or exercise outside where it’s more scenic. Go to your local park or even your backyard and enjoy the sun. You’ll get nice, fresh air and be visually entertained.
  3. Buy some new activewear. Instead of wearing just a boring t-shirt, go on a trip to the mall and buy some new soft leggings from Lululemon or a pair of comfy Nike shoes. When you look good, you feel good.
  4. Download a goal-setting app. Nothing is better to remind you to work out than your phone buzzing daily with a notification. Apps like Strides, Way of Life and Coach.me are great for turning your fitness goals into habits.

All of these tips can help you stick to your goals and improve your body without straying back to your former ways of the previous year.
