Mckayla Schmal, Freelance Writer

Mckayla is a junior at Xavier College Preparatory. At Xavier, she is involved in Mock Trial, Student Ambassadors, Gator Guides officer, National English Honor Society and National Computer Science Honor Society. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, going to dance practice at MBBC Dance Studio, working a part-time job at Sprouts Farmers Market, and working to donate school supplies through her award-winning, youth-led nonprofit Smart Supplies. This past summer, she attended The School of The New York Times where she studied investigative journalism, and she is excited to continue with XPress for her second year and share the stories about Xavier’s community through journalism. Mckayla is a Best of SNO award-winning writer.
