Xavier College Preparatory isn’t just a place of academic excellence; it’s a vibrant community teeming with opportunities for social engagement and personal growth. From clubs catering to diverse interests to exhilarating sports events and spirited rallies, Xavier offers students a tapestry of social opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

One of the hallmarks of social life at Xavier is its extensive club offerings. Whether students are passionate about environmental activism, video production or journalism, there’s a club to suit every interest. These clubs provide not only avenues for pursuing hobbies but also opportunities for students to connect with like-minded peers and make lasting friendships.

According to Sanford Worth, director of information technology (IT) and video production at Xavier College Preparatory, “In the film production class, our students are not just learning about filmmaking, they’re creating it. Their projects reflect their desire to make a meaningful impact through the power of storytelling. Through collaboration, students not only refine their technical skills but also learn the importance of teamwork and building relationships with their peers.”

Sports also play a significant role in fostering camaraderie and school spirit at Xavier. From competitive matches to friendly scrimmages, sports events offer students the chance to bond over shared victories and challenges.

Rallies at Xavier are another highlight of the social calendar. They pulsate with energy and excitement. Whether it’s the Winter Sports Rally or the Light’s Out/Eighth Grade Day Rally, these events bring the entire student body together for a celebration of school spirit and unity. From cheering on classmates to showcasing talents, rallies are a testament to the vibrant sense of community at Xavier.

According to Jennifer Tesdall, director of student activities, “There is one student council officer in every homeroom, and she is asked to help get classmates excited for rallies and other events. The Executive Board plans rallies, themes, videos and live scripts. The board incorporates the current sports’ teams into the video and script. The teams then perform one-minute dances and compete to win the ‘Spirit Stick.’”

Dances and mixers add another dimension to social life at Xavier, providing students with opportunities to let loose and create memories with friends. Whether it’s the annual prom or Frosh Mixer, these events offer students at both Xavier and Brophy College Preparatory a chance to socialize, dance and unwind amidst the rigors of academic life.

In a celebration of creativity and talent, Xavier College Preparatory joins forces with Brophy College Preparatory for the annual Fine Arts Extravaganza (FAE). This collaborative event showcases the artistic endeavors of students from both schools, featuring captivating musical performances and stunning visual and hands-on art displays. From musical performances and art showcases, the FAE highlights the depth and diversity of artistic expression within both school communities, fostering appreciation and recognition for the arts.

Within Xavier College Preparatory’s community, school spirit days stand out as dynamic expressions of collective identities and values. Themed dress-up occasions serve as catalysts for fostering unity, pride and connection among students. As students come together to participate in these activities, they not only showcase their creativity and enthusiasm but also demonstrate their commitment to making a meaningful impact in the world. Themed dress-up days offer a platform for students to express their individuality while embracing a shared sense of belonging and camaraderie.

The Xavier College Prep Fashion Show is a highly anticipated event that showcases the creativity and talent of seniors who work collaboratively to bring their vision to life. Through months of planning, designing and coordinating, these students transform the runway into a spectacle of style and innovation. From selecting fabrics and creating designs to choreographing the runway walks, each aspect of the fashion show is meticulously crafted by the seniors, culminating in an evening of glamor and sophistication. Beyond showcasing artistic flair, the fashion show serves as a testament to the leadership, teamwork and dedication of the seniors, leaving a lasting impression on the entire school community.

In addition to fostering a strong sense of community within the school, Xavier College Preparatory also extends its commitment to service beyond its borders. Each year, students have the opportunity to embark on transformative community service trips, such as those to Ecuador. During these trips, students immerse themselves in local communities, working alongside residents on meaningful projects that address pressing social and environmental issues. Building homes and designing furniture not only make a tangible difference in the lives of others but they also instill values of empathy, compassion and global citizenship in participating students.

Xavier College Preparatory’s summer trips provide students with a global learning experience, offering immersive encounters with the cultures and landscapes of Spain, France, England and Canada. Through guided tours, cultural activities, and hands-on exploration, students gain invaluable insights into the history, art and traditions of each destination, enriching education and broadening perspectives on the world.

One of the most cherished traditions at Xavier College Preparatory is the annual father-daughter trip to Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado. This special excursion offers fathers and daughters the chance to bond amidst the breathtaking beauty of the San Juan Mountains. From skiing and snowboarding down pristine slopes to cozying up by the fire in rustic lodges, this trip creates unforgettable moments of laughter, adventure and connection between generations. It’s a time for fathers and daughters to leave behind the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse themselves in nature’s tranquility, strengthening bonds and creating cherished memories that last a lifetime.

In essence, Xavier College Preparatory isn’t just about academic achievement; it’s a nurturing environment where students can explore their passions, form meaningful connections and create lifelong memories. Through clubs, sports events, rallies, dances, trips and interactions with fellow schools like Brophy College Preparatory, Xavier fosters a sense of community and belonging that extends far beyond graduation. It’s not just a school; it’s a home away from home, where friendships are formed and memories are made.
